It’s a momentous month here at Virtual Instruments – we’re celebrating our 10th birthday! And much like the posts from your Facebook friends about their kids turning 10, it’s hard to believe how quickly we’ve grown up – so let’s take a quick stroll down memory lane…
Virtual Instruments was founded in June 2008 just outside the San Francisco Bay Area in Scotts Valley, CA, and we were initially focused on SAN monitoring with our NetWisdom product, which was spun out of Finisar. Even as early as then, our goal was to help our customers identify and resolve performance and availability problems that can affect their key applications – a concept that is even more relevant in today’s age of highly complex hybrid data centers.
From 2008 to 2016, we focused on developing innovative monitoring solutions that helped our customers manage the rapidly-evolving, increasingly virtualized enterprise data center. Over those years, we helped solve some of the most critical IT performance and availability issues for more than 500 of the world’s largest data centers, across a wide range of industry sectors – including healthcare, government/federal, retail, financial services, service providers and telcos.
In 2016, Virtual Instruments kicked into high gear by merging with Load DynamiX, the leading storage performance analytics company. The product born out of the merger, WorkloadWisdom, provides insight into application workload behavior that enables data storage professionals to optimize costs and assure performance by more intelligently purchasing and deploying storage infrastructure.
Later that year we acquired Xangati, a leader in virtual and cloud infrastructure performance monitoring. The acquisition helped us add new features and capabilities to our flagship infrastructure performance monitoring and analytics platform, VirtualWisdom, and also led to the development of our new Cloud Migration Readiness service.
That takes us to this year, which has been highlighted by several notable company milestones and achievements, including:
Needless to say, the past 10 years have been a thrilling ride, and none of it would have been possible without our invaluable customers, partners and employees, as well as everybody across our entire global ecosystem. Here’s to the next 10 years – and in the meantime, don’t forget to follow us on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook to stay up-to-date on the latest and greatest in app-centric infrastructure performance monitoring.
