Because management expects that downtime will be virtually nonexistent (most industries today demand 24/7 operability with 99999s availability), IT professionals need to consider investing in a robust performance management tool to anticipate problems and prevent downtime, which would be a costly situation.

Performance obstacles are plentiful in the data center. As optimization grows more complex, organizations need to keep in mind that to maximize the performance and availability of their entire IT infrastructure — with legacy and modern systems tied together — total visibility into the system plays a huge role in providing the IT team with the insight necessary to prevent and overcome problems before they impact performance.
