Virtual Instruments’ European Road Trip

By Sean O’Donnell, Managing Director EMEA

In the past month, Virtual Instruments launched a partnership with Gigamon to enable VirtualWisdom analytics on copper-based Ethernet, and a partnership with Cisco to utilise telemetry from the new MDS 32Gb blade to provide analytics for key metrics that help assure application performance without needing to tap into the fibre channel. On top of these key ecosystem partner announcements, we announced VirtualWisdom 5.4, our new Application-centric Infrastructure Performance Management platform.

VI’s European road trip started with an SVA GmbH Storage Day in Darmstadt, Germany. CIOsynergy in London followed, and we continued with NetApp Insight in Berlin, then onto the LB Systems Symposium in Vienna. After a break to attend the SVC Awards in London, where VirtualWisdom won Storage Management product of the year, we were off to the Gartner IOM & DC event at the Intercontinental O2 London, the Dell EMC Forum London and finally HPE Discover in Madrid. In total we talked with more than 600 delegates and built strong new customer interest from those looking for Application Delivery Assurance in the context of the underlying and supporting infrastructure.

VirtualWisdom’s App-centric approach to monitoring the infrastructure supporting critical applications provides unparalleled visibility into why your mission-critical applications are not performing as well as they should be. It’s so much more comprehensive than conventional monitoring tools that one notable competitor has given up and pulled out of the space altogether.

Analyst Nick Sundby from IDC stated: “The instrumentation of IT infrastructure has proven benefits in performance management, system utilization, and a more transparent and collaborative relationship between IT and the business units. With insight at the application level, IT decision makers have the granular and objective information they need for correct and timely decisions. Without such data, they are effectively flying blind.”

The press community also agrees, as can be seen in a recent article from The Register:
